Paga Crocodile Pond

The pond is located in Paga in the Upper East Region, and inhabited by West African  crocodiles, some of which are up to 90 years old. The pond is famous for friendly, sacred crocodiles that peacefully coexist with humans, allowing locals and visitors to interact with them safely. The relationship between the humans and the crocodiles symbolizes spiritual respect, ancestral connection, and peaceful coexistence between humans and nature. The locals believe the crocodiles embody the spirits of ancestors, and this belief fosters mutual protection and reverence.
