The Philip Quaque  Memorial School

located in Cape Coast, a short distance from the historic Cape Coast Castle, it was the first school to formally offer  Western education in Ghana. It was founded in 1766 by Reverend Philip Quaque, the first African ordained as an Anglican minister.  It was originally known as the “Castle School” for educating mixed heritage children.
